Description

Main focus: fine motor preparation for writing (the pincer grasp) and discrimination of pure geometric shapes.

Skills it really builds

  • Tripod and pincer grasp: the size and rounded shape of the knob force the exclusive use of thumb, index and middle finger. That is precisely the neuromuscular pattern a pencil will later need.
  • Visual discrimination and geometric abstraction: intuitive identification of curved shapes (circle and oval) against angular ones like the triangle, square and rectangle.
  • Self-correction and independence: the board will not let a shape into the wrong cavity, so a triangle simply does not go into the circle. The child notices the mistake and fixes it alone, without an adult stepping in.
