Main focus: fine motor preparation for writing (the pincer grasp) and discrimination of pure geometric shapes.
Skills it really builds
- Tripod and pincer grasp: the size and rounded shape of the knob force the exclusive use of thumb, index and middle finger. That is precisely the neuromuscular pattern a pencil will later need.
- Visual discrimination and geometric abstraction: intuitive identification of curved shapes (circle and oval) against angular ones like the triangle, square and rectangle.
